The base case is that spiders crawl the entire Web, starting from known pages and following all links, and also crawling pages that are hand-submitted. Google is pretty much like that still. If a site has high PageRank, it is spidered more often and more deeply.
However, search engines are trying to encourage site owners to pay for the privelege of having their pages spidered. Teoma’s index is very hard to get into without paying money, and Inktomi’s isn’t that easy either. And even if you do get into Inktomi for free, they’ll take a long time to respider, while if you pay they respider constantly. One advantage of being respidered often is that you can tweak your page to come up higher in their relevancy rankings, then see if your changes worked.
Finally, you can also pay to appear on a search page. That is, your link will appear when someone searches on a specific keyword or keyphrase. Google does a good job of making it pretty clear which results (at the top or on the right of the page) are paid; others maybe do a not-so-good job.
Paid search results are typically all pay-per-click, based on keyword. The advertiser pays the search engine vendor a specific amount of money each time an ad is clicked on, this fee having been determined by an auction of each keyword or keyphrase.

Yahoo! Finance was the leader in the category during May with 18.5 million visitors, up 58 percent versus year ago, followed by AOL Money & Finance with 15.2 million visitors (up 48 percent) and MSN Money with 13.7 million visitors (up 13 percent).
Here are the top 10 Financial News and Research Sites:
Total Unique Visitors (millions) May 2008
1. Yahoo! Finance 18.5
2. AOL Money & Finance 15.2
3. MSN Money 13.7
4. Forbes Property 7.0
5. Dow Jones & Company 6.6
6. CNN Money 6.0
7. BNET 5.6
8. TheStreet.com Sites 5.3
9. Reuters Sites 4.8
10. Reed Business Information 3.8
The category displayed visitor growth across virtually all demographic segments. However, certain segments contributed more than others.
The number of visitors to the category age 50 and older grew 46 percent versus year ago, while visitors under 50 grew by 32 percent. Above average growth was also seen in the following segments: households earning at least $60,000 annually (40 percent), households with children (38 percent) and households with at least 5 people (57 percent).
In other words, the segments displaying the greatest growth are those more likely to have greater financial responsibilities or challenges, such as paying for their kids to go to college, or needing to figure out how best to handle rapidly escalating monthly payments on home mortgages. And don’t get me started on rising gas prices.
Why should search engine marketers pay attention to this trend? Check out your favorite financial news site, search for a couple of publicly traded companies, and see how many press releases you can find in the results. Most of them have been distributed by Business Wire, Marketwire, PrimeNewswire and PR Newswire.

Search Engine Optimization, popularly known as SEO is a favorite pastime of egotistical webmasters. And that includes yours truly
I believe that every search engine optimizer must be deriving an evil pleasure seeing his website rising up on the Google ranking scale and beating others in their niche. And when the money starts rolling in… ahhhhh… the pleasure peaks to a new high and we get back to our computers to try and get our site rank even higher!
Ok, so I have spent over 4 years learning the ropes and still I am far from being a true expert. Still, I have managed some good rankings in various search engines for the few clients I have but only through white-hat seo techniques. It takes longer and involves a lot of effort and brings in both visibility and exposure as well as revenues for sites but unfortunately people do not want to pay the fair price for the same.
Representing an Indian SEO Company is not an easy job as there exist a large number of rogue SEOs in the market that offer their SEO services for peanuts and then deploy unethical and shady techniques to get their clients’ website zoom amongst the Top 10.
If only we could convince ourselves to do that, but no! How can we? We love our clients and are proud that we get repeat business from all of them. It is because of the trust they have on us and the way we reciprocate their trust with good results achieved through ethical seo techniques and hard work!

Our parent company owns about 100+ .COM domain names, which Web sites are hosted by 10+ different web hosting providers.
We wanted 10+ different web hosting providers to ensure IP diversity by having several Class C IP addresses. IP diversity was and is still an important requirement for our specific business needs.
It isn’t an easy task to find a perfect web hosting service and it’s even more difficult to find 10+ quality web hosting services that match our minimum requirements.
We spend some months trying and testing about 50+ already well ranked web hosting providers. Most of the cases, we were disappointed by the reliability aspect and by the customer services that lack of technical expertise. We were often forced to cancel the web hosting contract due to the lack of quality of the services.
Finally, after 3 months of testing and reviews, we’ve got our perfect web hosting providers. We consider them “perfect” because they match all our requirements from the time of our testing and until now. You can see the list of requirements below.
As we always like to share our knowledge to contribution in our ways to the Internet community, we will give you the list of those “perfect” web hosting services.
The list is simple and only contains the names of web hosting providers and links to their respective web sites. Some hosting services will be also added later on as well as more technical specifications. We hope it will permit you to avoid losing time and money if you have to select a web hosting provider by yourself.

Link building is a targeted way of building a web sites link popularity. You may ask why is link popularity important and why does my site need it? Good Question. And the answer is because search engines like Google put a lot of emphasis on inbound links that come into a web site. The anchor text that is used to point to that inbound web page should also match the optimized phrase for the page, but that’s a different topic. Link building will over time get you to place better with the major search engines.
You can start your link building efforts by doing a search for your desired keyword or keyphrase on Google for example and contact some of the top results to see if they would be interested in exchanging links with your site. Have the code that you would like them to use to point to your web site ready to give to them when you contact them. Make sure that you have an area of your web site that is devoted to posting your relevant link exchanges. That’s right you want to exchange links with sites that have relevancy to what they will be pointing to.
Building inbound links to your web site is very powerful and if done correctly it will:
Increase web traffic to your site
Save you advertising money and time
Make you more of an authority on your subject matter
Increase your visibility in the search engines

I’ve worked with a couple of API websites in the past and I’ve always been interested on the concept of running websites which are supplied with continuous amounts of free content. Furthermore, people are now creating scripts that are meant to utilize these APIs.
Anyway, I found this great website with a list of numerous APIs on the web. If any programmer wants to take up this opportunity, go nuts! My prize API-based website is Vol3D, which pulls videos from Revver itself and uses my affiliate ID to display them for money!

Spam mails will usually try to entice you to open them by having titles that promise things like financial rewards, health products, the latest news or gossip, cheap deals or celebrity pictures. Often their titles will contain odd mis-spellings; these are attempts to fool anti-spam programs.
The safest course of action is not to open any e-mail you’re not expecting, especially if it has an attached file, or if you do not recognise the name or address of the sender.
If you have opened an e-mail and are trying to determine if it is genuine, you could try copying the subject line or some of the message into a search engine. If other people have mentioned it on any web sites you should be able to find out if it is spam. You should always do a search on any company before you buy from them or send them any money.

Some blog for fun, some blog for money, some blog for both. There are numerous options to monetize a blog. AdSense ads, affiliate links, paid reviews, links to your products – you name it. If your blog receives enough visitors you can start making living online. To make the most of your visitors you must keep in mind where do they come from. Those who arrive to your blog from search engine results or directed to you by links from other websites can see your pages fully. But your revenue-generating ads and links are hidden for those who read your RSS feeds. This means that your online money-machine loses click from a substantial portion of your most loyal visitors. Is there a way to make money in RSS feeds? Yes, try ‘feedvertising’
