Unique content is important too. You need to provide content that has different information than what is on other sites and other Web pages.
The number and quality of links pointing to your website are terribly important to your Google rank. There are a number of different strategies and techniques to pursue at this stage. Some of our highest-ranking examples on this list have made a habit of including a small credit link back to their site on the websites they design. Those links add up quickly, especially if they are included on a page footer that appears on each page in a client’s website.
The Page Title is one of the most important areas Google and other search engines use to determine what is on a particular web page. Google uses your Page Title as the name of your link in search results (Google even makes the matching keywords bold) so these words have a big impact on search results. Put your keywords or phrases in the title, and keep it short.
The first question is, is it ethical and that same question could be posed to professional journals in their system of citing authors and experts. The notion of citation and reference is what Google’s Page Rank is based on.
It’s a best practice. One of the most common problems is with Title tags when companies create web sites and put the exact same information or nothing at all. Title tags are the first and most important indication of what the web page is about. Title tags should be a short summary of the page with important keywords to the left.
The meta description tags are used in the search results. It is important to use them if you want some degree of influence over what search engines display in the search results of when your web page ranks for a particular keyword query.
You can request a Google robot visit at www.google.com/addurl. The robot will browse your site and index it’s contents. Expect to have to wait for a couple of weeks before this will happen. This is Google’s webdirectory and, next to the google robot, an important source of the google search API.
Excite used to be the best-known general-purpose search engine site on the Web that relies on concept-based searching. It is now effectively extinct.
Unlike keyword search systems, concept-based search systems try to determine what you mean, not just what you say. In the best circumstances, a concept-based search returns hits on documents that are “about” the subject/theme you’re exploring, even if the words in the document don’t precisely match the words you enter into the query.
How did this method work? There are various methods of building clustering systems, some of which are highly complex, relying on sophisticated linguistic and artificial intelligence theory that we won’t even attempt to go into here. Excite used to a numerical approach. Excite’s software determines meaning by calculating the frequency with which certain important words appear. When several words or phrases that are tagged to signal a particular concept appear close to each other in a text, the search engine concludes, by statistical analysis, that the piece is “about” a certain subject.
For example, the word heart, when used in the medical/health context, would be likely to appear with such words as coronary, artery, lung, stroke, cholesterol, pump, blood, attack, and arteriosclerosis. If the word heart appears in a document with others words such as flowers, candy, love, passion, and valentine, a very different context is established, and a concept-oriented search engine returns hits on the subject of romance.
Links are one of the most important parts of successfully running a search engine optimization campaign. As a matter of fact, having well-placed links will do a lot to help to push your website to the top of the search engine result pages for the keywords of your choice. Although there are many different ways for you to acquire these links, there are some ways which are almost automated in nature. By taking advantage of every aspect of your link building campaign, you can not only get your website listed in the search engines quickly, you can also be benefited by the incoming links for a long time to come.
One of the easiest forms of linking that exists is that which is found in directory submissions. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of directories for you to choose from on the Internet where you can post a link to your website. Some of these directories are free to post links and others charge a fee, either a one time fee or a recurring fee. It is up to you to decide if it is worth the effort to post to the free directories and if it is worth the cost to post to some of the paid directories.
Some of the paid directories are very important for you to be listed in, regardless of what the price is. This is especially the case if you are a little bit experienced with search engine optimization and are fairly confident in your ability to get your website listed well on the search engines from your efforts. Some of the paid directories that you want to make sure you’re part of include Yahoo and Joeant.com. Yahoo is fairly expensive at $299 a year but by having a link in the Yahoo Directory, you will be giving your SEO efforts of major shot in the arm. Popular directories such as Joeant are an excellent way for you to position yourself with some back links as well.
Submitting your website to the free directories is also an excellent way to give yourself a boost in the SERPS as well as getting yourself listed on the search engines initially. Google does not necessarily give as much weight to these free search engine submissions but remember, Google is not the only kid on the block. Yahoo also has the ability to send you a massive amount of traffic if you’re positioned well in their search engine results and MSN can send you traffic as well. Each of these lesser search engines will place a lot of weight on many incoming links from these free directories.
Title: SEO starts with the title of the post. You main keyword needs to be incorporated into your posts title to have the most effect. A great tool already part of WordPress is the slug. You will find the slug in the right hand side column of your WordPress editor (where you write your blog posts.) By using your keyword in your slug, it will read better for SEO purposes but nevertheless you won’t loose your nice post title.
Just take a peek at this posts title and then take a look at the actual URL of this posts. The end behind the blogs URL (seo-optimization) is the actual post slug I chose to use.
Blog Post: The next part of your SEO optimized blog post is the actual blog post. You will need to use your keyword in the very first sentence of the post and either use the bold, italic, or underline feature ( please note that in the default WordPress editor you can only underline whilst going to the code view and then place the <u>keyword</u> tags around your keyword like this. I’ve used this example throughout the whole blog posts here to give you a better idea on what I mean.
Note: Please be careful on not to overdo this otherwise the search engine bots will mark you as a spam blog and instead of ranking well, you will be buried.
Your first paragraph also needs to contain your keyword in the last sentence. Ideally you will use the keyword twice or three times in the first paragraph, depending on length.
Throughout your posts sprinkle your keyword further. It is very important, that the very last paragraph also contains your keyword since the search engine bots often spider the beginning and the last bit of every blog post.
Tags: Tags are also an often overlooked part of the whole SEO optimization process. Please USE them at all times if you try for SEO. It helps to use your main keyword as a tag first and then some variations. Ideally you want around 5-10 tags.
Hyperlinks: If your posts contains hyperlinks to other pages in your blog, or to affiliate programs that are related to the topic, then use the keyword to hyperlink to them. It will carry more weight for SEO optimization purposes.
Images: Images need to be tagged with the keyword to have the highest possible effect for SEO. You should use images in your blog posts since a picture often speaks a thousand words and by tagging it the right way it will give you SE juice.
All in One SEO Pack Plugin: An absolute must to have, if you are working at SEO optimization. You can download this Plugin on the developers website and read all about why you need this.
An organic search is a process by which Internet users find web sites that they are looking for in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages), instead of using pay-per-click advertisements, such as Google AdWords, to locate the sites that they visit. Here are some organic SEO techniques that will increase your web site’s visibility:
1. Make sure that you add relevant meta tags to each page of your web site. These are used by the Search Engines to index your web site. Whenever you are choosing the keywords for in your meta tags, make sure that you list the most important words that you think that your target audience will be searching for. These words should also be used in your meta tag description, which is the short explanation of your business.
2. You need to setup a site map for your business and then submit it to both Google and Yahoo. This is your chance to inform the Search Engines about the URLs that are on your web site.
3. Another thing that you should submit is any important information from your web site to Google Base. This will dramatically help with your organic SEO while also helping to distribute and share information with other people who you would not otherwise know how to reach.
4. It is also a good idea to set up a blog in order to be able to add more content to your web site. This is the key to your success online.
